FYI

I’ve closed down public views at

http://picasaweb.google.com/claydaze

several sites and blogs have killed any chances fans have to download free images for fans. This is not just me, Several newspapers are going to be sending letters from lawyers to stop using photos on this certain blog. I feel that photographers who do this for a living are not getting any credit and its a slap in the face.

Crazy stuff

It started Friday morning- I dont remember what was happening. I remember a rush to layout some pages early because some of the staff was going to be off Saturday night. I was thinking “Oh No” that’s not good. I think everytime that someone tries to plan ahead some big news always happens.

I took a couple hours off in the afternoon and headed to Garrard County for the first football game of the season. I was pretty excited, the coach let me in the locker room for the pregame talk, etc. I shot some video and got some photos and stayed for a quarter before heading to Boyle County for my second game. As soon as I got to the game, I parked, people came up and started asking questions about Northpoint Training Center, wondering if I knew what was going on. As soon as I got through talking and deciding what to do next, the decision was made for me, my editor called. John had been hearing some things. He had heard 150 inmates had escaped and several guards where either dead or hostages. None of the above is true.

I headed to the prison, I started to see smoke, it was dark. The inmates had started fires. I shot a few frames from the road in front of the prison. I headed down close which ended up being not such a good shot. The shot where the media was held was bad view of everything going on. I stayed until about 2am or so.

I left and went home and decided to come back for a press conference at 7am-but I still had to work on my football photos- so I finally got to bed about 4ish.

I got the press conference shot video and then took some photos on my way out of the prison of one of the building still smoking. Went to the office and then worked on photos for the paper and then sent some photos to ap. About 11- I had to shoot another assignment at a volleyball tournament at Centre College. I had to get photos of our 3 local teams, so I finally got finished about 1pm.

I sent 1 photo for the paper and decided to crash. This is why my job is interesting. By the way, we got there and reported before any other tv crew or newspaper–David Brock and others did a great job.

Here are few photos from the past 24 hours.
